Teacher Oscar Ramos

January 11, 1951 - October 5, 1980

Mr. Ramos had a passion for the ocean his whole life, moving to the coast when he was just 16 to discover his new path as an artist. He was a beloved member of the Las Piedras artistic  community, and his paintings have brought joy to both locals and visitors for many years. Mr. Ramos was an early adopter of Sir Dressler’s teachings, and was one of the first to promote said teachings to the greater Las Piedras area. Some of our senior members still remember Mr. Ramos as an important guide in their lives, someone who truly understood the life-changing knowledge Sir Dressler was trying to share. To others, Mr. Ramos is remembered as a brother, a husband, or even just a friend. Unfortunately, Mr. Ramos lost his life to the very sea that had inspired him so much during his childhood. Mr. Ramos did not leave behind any children, and his widow Lori Ramos has since joined her husband in that great abyss. May Mr. Ramos find peace in the waters he so loved.

Assistant Hudson Rayne

September 20, 1956 - October 26, 1993

Mr. Rayne thought of the sea as a puzzle meant to be solved by the scientific community. He became a vital asset to SCARI, and his work as a researcher can be seen both at the Serpent’s Cove Aquarium, and in many documentaries centered around the Cove. To anyone who grew up in the 80s, they would recognize Mr. Rayne and his wife Evelyn from the show Sea Sights!, made to educate a young audience about our beautiful oceans. Some of Mr. Rayne’s videos are still displayed at both the aquarium, and at the Access Animus Healing Center. Mr. Rayne’s dedication to scientific discovery lasted until the end of his life. He was one of the 6 cave divers who lost their lives in the Doran’s Peak incident of 1993. Mr. Rayne leaves behind his widow, Evelyn Rayne, and three children, who Mrs. Rayne has requested that we keep anonymous. May he be remembered through his dedication to scientific progress.

Professor Linda Palazzo

June 30, 1952 - June 22, 1994

One of the founders of our organization, Professor Palazzo and her childhood friend, Professor Fischer, were among the first to take a scientific interest in Las Piedras’ waters. Professor Palazzo’s findings have been published in numerous scientific journals, and it’s her research that has helped us understand the mysteries of Serpentine Canyon and Galatea Deep the most. Professor Palazzo also co-founded the Serpent’s Cove Aquarium, along with Professors Fischer and Lemoine. However, Professor Palazzo also had mental health struggles she fought against every day. Though Professor Palazzo lost that struggle, we remain ever dedicated to offering robust mental health services through our organization. May her memory be a motivator in our quest to provide aid to the minds who seek relief through our organization.

Assistant Lori Ramos

February 22, 1953 - December 12, 1996

Mr. Ramos’ wife came to our coastal community all the way from Ohio for very similar reasons. Mrs. Ramos garnered a reputation as something of a Renaissance Woman, talented at painting, illustration, writing, music, and even sailing! Mrs. Ramos was a beloved member of our organization, but she had her own demons that she battled away from the public eye. Mrs. Ramos’ public outbursts have tarnished her contributions to our organization somewhat, but those close to her still keep her memory as a creative, passionate, and outgoing person who brought light into the lives of those around her. Mrs. Ramos leaves behind a brother, and two nieces.

Student Samuel Lupo

January 16, 1995 - August 11, 2016

Mr. Lupo was a late adopter of our teachings, but he was no less passionate about our message and our community. Mr. Lupo was a talented musician, and known to some as the guitarist for local punk band Wrath Mouth. Mr. Lupo is also remembered by his friends and remaining family as someone with an abundance of wit and charm. Though he came to Las Piedras later in his tragically short life, he was no less capable of making many friends and leaving a lasting impact on many lives. Mr. Lupo went missing in autumn of 2014, and his remains were found two years later. Investigators are still uncertain about the boy’s fate. Mr. Lupo’s leaves behind his mother, father, and two younger sisters, who pray every day that he has found peace in the next life.
